About Kevin

Kevin QuinleyKevin M. Quinley is an insurance claim, risk management and productivity expert. His claims career spans 30+ years. Kevin began his career with a major claims TPA and worked for them for nine years. He was then a claims executive for a specialty mutual insurance company and then a risk management executive for a division of a Fortune 500 company.

He has a BA from Wake Forest University and an MA from the College of William & Mary. He holds the Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation and specialty designations from the American Insurance Institute in Risk Management (ARM), in Claims (AIC), in Reinsurance (ARe) and in Management (AIM). He is also a Registered Professional Adjuster (RPA). A former Contributing Editor of Claims Magazine, Kevin co-authored the Insurance Institute’s AIC 33 textbook on Workers Compensation Claims and Industrial Low Back Pain published by the Michie Company.  He is also a contributing author to the Insurance Institute’s AIC textbooks, Claim Handling Principles and Practices (1st Edition) and The Claims Environment (2nd Edition).

The author of over 600 published articles and ten books, his articles have appeared in publications including Business Insurance, The National Underwriter, Risk Management, Occupational Safety & Health, Best’s Review, CPCU Journal, Insurance Settlement Journal, The Risk Report and For the Defense.

His books include Time Management for Claim Professionals, Claim Management, The Quality Plan, Litigation Management, Winning Strategies for Negotiating Claims and Managing Product Liability Risks. His seventh book, Bulletproofing Your Medical Practice: Risk Management Strategies that Work, was published in October of 2000. His eighth book, Well-Adjusted: 185 Career Tips for Adjuster Success was published in mid-2001. His ninth book – coauthored with Don Schmidt — Business at Risk: Risk Managing the Terrorist Threat examined risk management issues spotlighted by the 9/11 attack.  His tenth book, Adjusting Adversity, is a survival guide for claims professionals to use in addressing common and recurring job and career challenges.

He is a frequent speaker and panelist at a wide range of industry conferences in the insurance, claims, risk management and legal sectors. He has taught classes in insurance, claims and risk management for the Washington D.C. Chapter of the Society of CPCU. He is a past President of the Washington D.C.
