Kevin M. Quinley is a thought leader in insurance claims. Currently, he is the Principal of Quinley Risk Associates, LLC in the Richmond, VA area and assists clients throughout the country. He has served as an expert witness in over 125 cases nationwide, in state and federal courts — sometimes for plaintiffs and other times for defendants. He had given over 40 depositions and has testified in nearly a dozen trials.

Kevin has 40+ years of experience in managing casualty claims and litigation. He has a BA from Wake Forest University and an MA from the College of William & Mary.

Rock-Solid Professional Credentials

Kevin holds the Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation and specialty designations from the American Insurance Institute in Risk Management (ARM), in Claims (AIC), in Reinsurance (ARe), and in Management (AIM) along with the Registered Professional Adjuster (RPA) designation. A Contributing Editor of Claims Magazine, Kevin has written over 700 published articles and ten books on various aspects of insurance claims and risk management. In 2020, he won the CPCU Society’s Gottheimer-Malecki Award for lifetime contribution to the arena of insurance and risk management education.

Industry Engagement and Leadership

Kevin has taught CPCU classes on Commercial Liability Risk Management and Insurance, the Legal Environment of Insurance and Management. He has also served as an instructor for courses developed by the Insurance Institute of America for its Associate in Claims designation program. Currently, he co-moderates the LinkedIn forum, “Insurance Bad Faith and Extra-Contractual Liability.”

Kevin is a past President of the Washington D.C. Chapter of CPCU and is a frequent writer and speaker on insurance and legal topics. He serves as an expert witness for clients nationwide on issues of bad faith, claims handling, extracontractual liability, and adjuster standards of care.

Outside the Office

Kevin brings a similar work ethic and intensity to his free time. He is a voracious reader (60-80 books a year) and enthusiastically (if not skillfully) plays racquetball and pickleball. Kevin lives in a suburb of Richmond, VA with his wife Jane. He has two grown sons and two spoiled rescue dogs.
